Secret Sunday- with a twist

Today is significant for my blog in a way. Some of you may not know that Secret Sunday actually started out on Nov 20, 2009 as Secret Fridays. The first post received a fair amount of comments and I decided to make it a regular weekly feature, it ran forty-one times before I decided to switch it to weekends. And today marks the forty-first round of Secret Sunday, for a total of eighty-two posts with no sign of slowing down.

The reason I started this feature is I felt it could help people connect, by realizing there are others who have experienced or are now going through what we have, and to show we're not alone in our thoughts. I'm happy to say that with your help I think I've been able to achieve that. Some of my blogging friends have since also decided to do their own; Rasha, who runs hers on Tuesdays and Charlotte, who also has hers on Sundays.

Before we get started, whether or not you decide to leave a secret/fantasy with me, I'm curious. What things that people write in about do you find the most interesting?

Okay, here we go.

It's time for the forty-first round of Secret Sunday, a chance to share secrets and/or fantasies you've been keeping to yourself. Some are uplifting, some are heartbreaking and some are just plain naughty. All are valid.

Here's how it works:

1) This is open to anyone who wants to participate, from regular follower to casual visitor.

2) If this is something you'd like to run on your blog please feel free.

As always if there's anything you want to share, I'm listening...

  1. I like to read all the secrets but I guess the relationship and sex secrets are the ones I like best.

  2. I feel utterly lost and confused with my life right now and don't know what to do to get back on track. I feel like giving up.

  3. Anonymous#2: I've felt this way. When I was eighteen I was out of school and out of work, and I've never felt so lost. I wasn't doing anything valuable to contribute to society or my own growth, and I had zero direction in my life. At that time I considered suicide (I thought about it again one other time, following my car accident in 2008).

Both times I felt like I'd never figure out who I was or where my life was going and that things would never get better. But they did. There was a lot of pain and tears along the way but somehow I pulled through.

I know things feel hopeless for you right now but I honestly feel life will turn around for you. Maybe it'll take some time and maybe it won't be easy but things change. It won't be this way forever.

I don't know if you're thinking about suicide, but I want to say that ending things is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. The pain you're going through now isn't near what those who love you, those who are left behind, will feel.

I really hope you have someone you can talk to about how you're feeling. I'm always around at barrysquotations(at)gmail(dot)com if you think you'd like to talk. I've been there and I'll understand. If you do decide to get in touch I promise to keep our conversation private.

    Please hang in there. :)

  4. How can I love anyone else when I can't love myself?

I haven't been with anyone for a while and it is probably for the best.

  8. I'm angry with my best friend and feel myself pulling away from the relationship as self protection. 'If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything'...is making me not want to talk to him. For awhile.
