Why?

It's been a few days since I posted.  I was going to write something today about relationships, but this morning I found out one of my blogging friends was sexually assaulted last week. I'm upset and (mostly) just angry.  Angry that it happened to her, angry that it's happened in some form to many of you. Upset and angry that there's nothing I can do to stop it.

But this isn't about me. If this is how I feel I can't begin to imagine what she's going through.

I've been in touch with her today, she's not okay but she's determined to get through it and has a lot of love in her corner.  Please keep her in your thoughts, she's a beautiful person and didn't deserve this.  No one does.

I'll be back soon with something more positive, I promise.

  1. That is absolutely horrible, Barry. I feel so awful for your friend and I will definitely keep her in my thoughts and prayers. It breaks my heart to hear someone has been treated so viciously. :(

  2. There was a moment some time ago, when my entire outlook was changed, broken. I suppose some may have thought that was the moment I lost faith in life, humanity, myself. I saw the perfect, still surface if a crystal lake, and I saw the frozen dreams that had drowned within it.
I saw, life, in all it's beauty and all it's ugliness.
The horrid nights your friend has seen.. The bare ugliness that life can bear; yet the incredibly beauty in the strength that girl shows in continuing to go on, in choosing to grow stronger...
There is not much that can be said. Your kind heart and aching soul, the support you offer her; it is the most important thing in the world.
    She is in my thoughts.

  4. Barry, I'm so sorry to hear about this. It is such tragedy and I DEFINITELY get where you and she is coming from. As you know, I have been "sexually assaulted" in my life as well. Please feel free to give her my email. I am more than willing to be a healthy outlet for her right now since I know what she's going through. Hugs!
